Music, Music and More Music and some Dance too!

I do have to say the last few days have just been wonderful! With the Nevada Ballet Theater celebrating it's 39th season we are poised with a great Fall in Las Vegas. Artistic Director James Canfield has chosen an amazing group of young and energetic dancers that assure us that we are in for a treat. The party this past Thursday at Brett Wesley Gallery showed us just a smitten of what we are to expect. So please make sure to get to the ballet and support these fabulous performers and amazing organization.

Tango anyone?

With momentum growing in the arts in various quarters, despite the economic downturn and of course the closing of Las Vegas' beloved Liberace Museum, there is lots of light at the end of the tunnel. Last night I attended the Grand Opening of Sergei Shapoval's dance studio in the Southwest part of the valley. The award wining and internationally recognized Ukrainian dancer is living the American dream here in Las Vegas.

Arriving in the United States just ten years ago he has reached the pinnacle that so many immigrants from other lands have done, establishing their own business. The energy at the studio was electrifying as dancers of all ages took to the floor to show their talents. I was sad that I could not have shared the moment with my mother who lives in New Jersey. My mom being from Argentina and all, dances the Tango like no other and she definitely would have enjoyed the "Milonga" (party) atmosphere.

With everyone dancing all over the valley, this brings me to another important fact; you cannot dance without music! Thanks to renowned local violinist Laraine Kaizer here is an amazing lineup of great musical concerts to entice the senses beginning this evening.

All this excitement reminds me of what Mae West once said;

Too Much of a Good Thing is Wonderful!
