A Pleasant Surprise!

Just a day after I opined on Facebook about our local newspapers lack of coverage of the Cultural Arts...

... a few weeks ago a new weekly launched called SEVEN. I finally sat down and had a date with SEVEN and I will tell you I was pleasantly surprised by what I read inside. I even woke up this morning cuddling it!

I will admit that I do not have a television. Yes you heard me correctly I do not have a TV, I have not had one in 5 years and trust me I never looked back. I get all of my information from reading books or newspapers online. I read or monitor approximately 12 newspapers a day. Those include most major papers from around the State of Nevada and several national papers. I am a Cultural Arts news junky.

Here is a list of papers I read or monitor daily and weekly from around the state:

Las Vegas Sun, Reno Gazette Journal, Las Vegas City Life, Las Vegas Weekly, Elko Daily Free Press, Ely Times, Lahontan Valley Times, Pahrump Valley Times, Nevada Appeal, Virginia City News and now SEVEN.

From around the nation:

New York Times, L.A. Times, Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe, etc..

Obviously this list does not include the scores of magazines and websites such as KNPR.org that I read. In addition I also monitor a brand new application for your I-Phone or Android that was created by my Facebook friend Jorge Lara editor of VIMMAG http://www.vimmag.com/. The VIMMAG free application for your phone is a great way to keep abreast of the Cultural Arts on the go. As a matter of fact you can even monitor this very blog on this new app.

With all these great ways to find out what is happening Culturally in Las Vegas you have no excuse for not getting enculturated!
