Happy New Year! 新年快樂

Today marks the beginning of the Chinese New Year and Las Vegas has rolled out the red banners across the city to welcome our friends from across the Pacific. There are celebrations planned at most of the major resorts and of course in Las Vegas' "China Town" neighborhood along Spring Mountain. Interestingly enough this years celebrations just happen to fall on Valentines Day.

With the coming of the Year of the Tiger wonderful and great things are are expected for 2010. According to ancient traditions the tiger is an admired animal known for his courage and ability to fight. The tiger also protects against what is known as the three ancient tragedies of fire, ghosts and thievery. The tiger is a fiercely independent animal and stands for what is right.

Celebrations along the Strip will take place at many resorts with spectacular decorations such as the Bellagio's Conservatory and traditional Shaolin dances throughout. If you decide to make the Chinese New Year festivities part of your day make sure to wear red the color of "Good Luck."
