Gored at the Erotic Heritage Museum...

Museums in Las Vegas can be exciting places to explore all different sides of the city and its sexiness but the Erotic Heritage Museum takes it to a whole new level. Saturday evening at the "EHM" was definitely not to be missed. I can say this with confidence that it was like going on the trip of a lifetime. Life is about experiences and some of those experiences can either be bland like polenta with tomato sauce and others can be as spicy as a chile relleno. In either case the party was the latter for sure.

Jeff Gord with Female Lamp

Saturday nights festivities featuring the artist Jeff Gord was by far one of the best art shows I had ever attended to date in this Radiant City we call home. Mr. Gord himself was present demonstrating his artistic talents with his concepts of female as objet d'art.  Rather then paint or sculpt he uses the female form itself to create his art. Some people may find his work completely deplorable as exploitative of the woman but after witnessing him in action, the women that he works with are completely comfortable and trustworthy of the man behind the House of Gord. The level of trust that was demonstrated and his attention to detail was of course comforting. But I am certain that some conservatives out there would see his work and scream in horror and demand an inquisition. I of course could care less what those little people may think, for me it was as grand as a Mapplethorpe, if not even better, and one to be embraced as the epitome of expressive human sexuality and art at its best.

In addition to the the House of Gord there was a myriad of performances by belly dancers, people in costumes, body painting, the Sin City Sisters and even a man dressed as a pink pony attached to a carriage prancing throughout the museum with a female passenger in tow. Do you ever wonder how to tie up your lover in a pleasing way? Knot tying was also demonstrated and in such a way that would put any Boy Scout to shame.

I wondered to myself as I explored the museums many galleries and naughtiness how could the local press not be present to document such an event? Then it dawned on me that they were probably too preoccupied making a bogeyman of our good senator then to be bothered with such trivial matters as is art, how could I be so foolish? But in the end I was there to experience and report back from one of the best parties I have ever attended and for those who know me best that is a lot for me to say. Dr. Laura Henkel the museums Curator can throw a party and I am so glad I went and participated in such an historical event.

If you have not made it to the Erotic Heritage Museum then you are missing out. Leave your preconceived notions about sex outside the entrance for this place will blow your mind. *wink*
