The Arts Factory, the undisputed grand daddy of the local arts scene has been the creative nerve center of Downtown Las Vegas for over 15 years. It has been home to the arts collective
5 Finger Miscount, the
Contemporary Arts Center,
Dust Gallery, The
Game Festival the precursor to First Friday and a myriad of others shops, galleries, studios, amazing exhibitions and even a record store. So it is logical that this perennial locus of the arts has yet fostered another great group of edgy artists, that have no other claim but to create awesome works that have the snobbiest of the curatoriat trembling in their sabatos.
With this said, the latest of a long group of creatives to ascend is taking the local art scene by storm. The Three Bad Sheep art collective, the brainchild of Alexander Huerta, Eddie Canumay and Alexander Sky Carranza is adding yet another chapter to the Las Vegas art scene. Alexander Huerta proprietor of PeaceNArt Studio has been creating art for several years and has literally left his mark in the arts district by painting several murals that have helped define the neighborhood. Eddie Canumay, also known as "Cicifu", has worked collaboratively with local art giant KD Matheson and internationally recognized Chilean Artist Jorge Catoni. Alexander "Sky" Carranza is a freelance artist who is not just remembered by his awesome piercings but by the amazing works he has painted on his lovely partner Jennifer.
These three artists have come together not just to create an awesome team but they have also brought others to their novel artistic fold in which they have christened the Three Bad Sheep & 8 Bad Ass Artists. The upcoming exhibition features the art of Carlos De Las Heras, Damien Drake, Jessica Galindo, Caesar Garcia, KD Matheson, Gina Quaranto, Niki J. Sands and Crystal Solis. With names like this on their roster you know this is a show not to be missed.
The show will open on Preview Thursday, March 3, 2011 at PeaceNArt Studio at the Arts Factory from 6 to 10pm. On First Friday March 5 from 6 to 10pm.
