First Friday 2011 has Arrived!!!

Now that we have all sobered up from the New Years festivities and have started to get our groove back from the crazy holiday season we can all sit back and enjoy some art and culture. With First Friday tonight it is definitely a nice break from all the craziness of the last 30 days.

Last night at Preview Thursday I saw a smattering of shows that sets the stage for what should be a great evening. Marty Walsh is presenting Sola's Las Vegas Tapestry at Trifecta. Sola spent three years making an almost perfect rendition of the Las Vegas skyline that will amaze you, especially when you see the materials she used to execute this amazingly unique work of art; the Contemporary Arts Center presents Geolocation a show that will make you think a lot more about the Tweets you send out and who is reading them; Jesse Saunders will be spinning some groovy House Music at the Electronic Music Cafe; Laura Henkel is presenting the sultry colors of Bobby Logic; Blackbird Studios will be presenting the Three Bad Sheep at Commerce Street Studios. And let us not forget everything that is happening at Emergency Arts, The Funkhouse, City of the World, Holsum Lofts and so much more!

WHO CAN KEEP UP!

Anyway here are a few links for you to go and explore on your own. Also take a look at a few of my earlier postings for more information about shows and event this evening and beyond. Remember be safe, dress warmly and drink responsibly... Happy New Year Everyone...

Keeping up with the arts is a full time job you know!
